What is stone paper, actually? It's paper made from calcium carbonate — the mineral dust left behind when marble is cut. We take that waste, grind it fine, and bind it with a small amount of recyclable plastic. The result is about 80% mineral, 20% binder. No trees, no water, no bleach.

Wait — there's plastic in it? Yes, and we'd rather tell you than have you find out. About 20% of every page is HDPE, a recyclable plastic that holds the stone together and makes the paper waterproof and tear-resistant. We're upfront about it because a "100% natural" claim would be a lie, and our take-back program means it never ends up in a landfill.

Is it really waterproof? Yes. Spill coffee, get caught in the rain, drop it in a puddle — the pages won't warp, wrinkle, or dissolve. Liquids bead up and wipe right off, and your writing stays put. (Wet ink is still wet ink, so give fresh writing a moment before you close it.)

What pens work best? Ballpoint, gel, pencil, and fineliner all glide beautifully — the surface has zero grain, so pens move smoothly in every direction. Rollerballs and markers work well too. Fountain pens are compatible but need about 15–20 seconds to dry; we recommend testing on the last page first.

Will ink bleed through to the other side? No. You can write on both sides of every page without worrying about show-through.

How durable is it? Hard to tear. Because the paper is 80% mineral, it doesn't rip the way wood-pulp paper does. It'll survive your bag, your commute, and a fair amount of abuse.

How does the take-back program work? When you've filled the last page, don't bin it — stone paper needs to come back to us. Scan the QR code, send it in, and we recycle it into new paper. You get 10% off your next journal. Full circle, no waste.

Why can't I just recycle it at home? Stone paper doesn't go through normal paper recycling — the mineral-and-binder mix needs its own stream. That's exactly why we take it back ourselves instead of leaving you guessing.

What sizes and options are there? A5 (5.8" × 8.3"), 128 pages, thread-sewn so it lays flat. Choose lined, blank, or dot-grid, and pick your cover color at checkout.

How is this better for the environment? Every journal diverts marble waste from landfill, uses no water in production, and generates roughly 60% less carbon than conventional paper manufacturing. And zero trees.
